I was chosen as the Lead UX Researcher for the commercially released project Echoes. Echoes is an isometric action roguelike game with dash-focused gameplay. It was a multi-department capstone project that took 2 semesters and lasted from August 2023 to May 2024. Over 40 people contributed to the game as a part of the team, with the process requiring prompt and efficient communication. The project utilized user-driven development and the RITE method to create a game with the best possible user experience. This entailed recruiting users and moderating several product tests every week.
Regular testing ensured that problems were identified, discussed, and solved. All discovered issues would be brought up during weekly meetings with the development team. Furthermore, I would emphasize the most pressing issues and suggest actionable solutions to solve them. The project required the collaboration of many people with different roles: programmers, designers, QA specialists, and many others. The design team would come up with ideas based on my initial proposals, and programmers would communicate whether the proposed fix would fit within the time constraints of the project. Additionally, I often communicated with QA specialists, as bugs were sometimes discovered during UX testing.
